Week in June

June has been a good month for me health wise and fishing wise. I've been blessed enough to get out a couple of times this week with a motley list of characters. I wonder if people ralize the importance of getting outside and breathing some fresh air? We have an amazing enviroment right here in our own back yards and it's sad we are to busy to slow down and realize the earth does not belong to us....We belong to the earth. I hope you all take a little time out for yourselves and your significant others.

Be Well

Bill

These are Mullet eating the algea off the top of the water. These schools went on for hundreds of yards. Im getting a kayak especially to target this kind of fishing....Smoked Mullet anyone? Photobucket

Jesus could fish also..This is how he fed the masses...For some reason this picture compelled me to say that and I am by no means comparing myself to Jesus...although he is my brother.

I still have not started to eat these guys...but if they keep coming to my feet like this I may start.

Outing 06/03/2008

I met my good friend Gary at the launch site around 6:30pm. We wanted to take advantage of the "premium" tide going out all day. The water level was indeed low and every grass flat with in our target area was exposed. Mullet activity was off the charts and you could see bait getting busted all ove the flat..And for once this month no wind was present. A perfect day.

Gary really put on a clinic on how to catch fish, tie knots, and what lure to use. I say this because he was really the only one to get fish to the boat. The "Hot Lure" was a DOA curly tail in Melon Back on a Power lock hook. Gary had a few reds and even a nice snook that threw the lure on a tail walk robbing Gary of the slam. My best fish broke off at the line to lure connection after a long battle on my lightest out fit. Weeds and shallow water ket the hard bait rods in the rod holders. Some of the comments from boater passing us in the channel as they watched us paddle across the exposed grass was funny. the bend in Gary's rod also ot some attention. We were off the water around 1AM.

Looks Snooky?

Gary is fearless, He was pulling fish after fish out of this hole despite all the creepy things that live in the grass....But thats where the fish are.

Gary is not afraid of the dark either...whatever it takes, because he's "Hardcore"

Thank you GOD for blessing me.

No Fishing

My fishing blog has been pretty slow because I have not had time or transportation to fish. My wife has had to have my Subaru because she broke her car. Maybe this week I'll get her a new car and get back on the water. In the mean time I have been shooting. One of the nice things about pellet guns is they are so quiet....My bud Cliff Smith was able to shoot these two fine birds without ever harming them. Hawks are amazing birds and possibly my favorite to watch. Enjoy!

Took the Plunge

Well my bride and I finally bought a trailor for the kayaks. Hopefully this will make things a whole lot easier for me. Yes I know trailor require maintenance and all that but I need something to get me out more on solo trips and it's nice to have my bride along on those times we can go together. There is nothing better then time outdoors with your spouse.

The trailor is a Trailex brand purchased at Bill Jacksons. Sam Ledford is my choice for sales help because I know he cares about my well being and would not put me into something that would not benefit me. Plus I know he'll be there for me if I should have any issues. His service is top notch.

These will be my first pictures on the blog.Hopefully they will be clear.

Fished a New Spot

Finally got the car back from my bride and was able to get out on the water today. I read on a forum of an area north east of the Skyway that had some good potential and was an easy "put in". I found it was indeed easy and the fishing was good. I started out with several trout and then a few rat reds. I spent some time exploring and was impressed by the health  of the grass beds. Bait was popping every where but no major size fish were in the schools. I was having problems with the floating grass so the top water action was a little slow. I was able to burn up a few old used paddle tails on the pinfish and puffers. Once the wind died down I moved way out near the channel still suprised how shallow the water remained. I worked a Black and Chartreuse Skitterwalk when I saw the back of a red fish following my lure. He took 4 swipes at it before finally finding the hooks. An over slot red was brought to the boat with witness's to boot (A couple of nearby stink potters). You will have to wait on the pictures as I only had my disposable. My new optio W30 came tonight.

My wife called me off the water because we had a major water leak under the house....Hopefully this won't interfere with my getting a new trailor tomorrow.

My fishing is only gonna get better!

Starting New

I decided to start a blog to share my fishing adventures with friends and family without all the baggage that comes with posting on a forum. It's my hope that people can learn from me and also share their experience with me so I can continue to improve my fishing.
Hopefully this will be a Spectaculous undertaking. It's my first blog!
